What's not to Like?
Um, hmmm, well … ?

Schmoozing with the big timers!
Tresa wasn’t quite on the Simply Quilts show on HGTV, but she was close! She traveled to California with one of the guests on the show and got to do the behind-the-scenes stuff! One of her quilts is featured in the book published by the guest of the show. Way cool!

Have you ever met anyone who can do everything? I mean everything? Meet my sister!

This is the girl who was valedictorian of her high school class, president of every association she’s ever joined, married her high school sweetheart (who became a doctor) and is still married to him almost 30 years later. She can raise sheep, shear the wool, card it, dye it (using natural dyes from wildflowers and leaves and stuff), spin it and even knit the sweater! She can churn her own butter and she makes real French toast – the kind that soaks overnight in the fridge and melts in your mouth in the morning. She even does those Bicycle-Across-Your-State events.

So it’s no surprise that she’s a champion quilter! I mean, why not?!

Now, I’m not a quilter. I’m not even a quilter wannabe. I know nothing about quilts except how to keep warm under one. It’s my sister’s expertise, not mine.

But like everything she does, she does it with gusto. (I’m not sure if that’s an official quilting term.) She’s published, she does the lecture/teacher circuits, and she’s had her quilts in the highly esteemed Paducah, Kentucky quilt shows. (For the non-quilters in the audience, a gasp would be appropriate here.)

Oh, and get this. She and her quilting friends actually do an annual weekend quilting event called a Euphoric Quilt Getaway. From all accounts they’re great fun, as is evidenced by repeat bookings.

If you’re a quilter, you’ll want to visit her site, schedule a class, attend a lecture, or buy some patterns and thread. If you’re not a quilter, um, well, she has some pretty pictures on her site!

Uh-huh. Right. What's the catch?
She’s my sister. That screams bias! But she really is an expert quilter, otherwise her quilts wouldn’t have been accepted in juried shows, nor would she have been invited to display her quilts at Paducah. That is testimony enough.

Items I’ve bought:
I’m not a quilter so this whole gig isn’t for me however … I did attend a quilt presentation that she put on for one of the local quilting clubs in my hometown. It was so amazing that I forgot to do my job of taking photographs for her website. Yeah, I got in a bit of trouble for that after the show! The lecture was From Whence Comes Inspiration and she started the presentation talking about pioneer women crossing the plains with their quilts. Way cool.

I had a second opportunity to see my sis in action when she held an appliqué class at the home of a friend of mine. This group wasn’t your typical quilting bunch, they were a group of Bible Study friends who get together for other kinds of fun. These gals didn’t know what a needle was, let alone the first thing about appliqué. My sister exhibited all kinds of patience while I laughed a LOT! At the end of the night, there wasn’t one quilt square completed but there’s no doubt that everyone had fun!
