A few years ago I was introduced to an Australian who got me hooked on the wonderful game of Australian Rules Football. I was surprised to hear that there is an Australian Football League in the US, and more surprised to hear that Kansas City fields a team called the Kansas City Power. I zipped on over to the footy fields for a tournament and had my first ever Australian Meat Pie!

Ohhhhhh, they are scrumptious!! There really is nothing like them in the US. If you haaaaad to make a similarity, I'd say it was a pot pie, but that's a bit of a stretch because an Aussie Meat Pie has a flaky crust, and it's filled with more gravy than a chicken pot pie.

Aussie Products Company has a lot more merchandise than Meat Pies. They have the ever-so-scrumptious Tim Tams -- they call them "biscuits" but we know they're cookies! :-) They have Violet Crumbles and Freddos and Caramello Koalas! They have Gravox. And Vegemite!

If you have no idea what I'm talking about, you're obviously not Australian and you probably haven't met an Australian. Look, trust me on this -- place an order for anything that you haven't already tried. Step out of your safe circle and splurge on a case of meat pies! If you don't like 'em, you can send them to me! :-)

Oh, and their selection doesn't stop with food. They have flags, books, music, Aboriginal items, clothing, gifts -- you name it!

Uh-huh. Right. What's the catch?
No catch. This is a good company with quality imported Australian foods and merchandise. I found them quite by accident with an Internet search and I've ordered from them many times! Good stuff, mate!

(You always have to say 'mate' at least once when you talk about Australia!)

Items I’ve bought:
Unfortunately I'm not able to pull up a previous order on their website, but I clearly remember my last order! I purchased two cases of Meat Pies! One was beef and onion (my kids' favorite) and the other was beef and mushroom. Since my kids don't like mushrooms, I was assured of having my own box! :-)

The pies are frozen, and you can simply pop them into the microwave for a couple of minutes. Remember, the Australian way of eating them is to use your hands as you would a hamburger! I haven't mastered that part and -- gasp -- use a fork! As my daughter says, "Mom, you're ruining the structural integrity of the pie!" Who cares?! It's good stuff no matter how you eat it!
